Time has flown this year with many new advancements taking place. Due to work reasons I reluctantly left the dusty inland for the town of Hervey Bay approximately four weeks ago. It was only yesterday that I was able to enjoy a trip to one of the local lakes in search of bass. These were (until yesterday arvo) one of my bogey freshwater species. Things were very quiet for most of the day but when the sun dipped on the horizon it was hard to keep the lures away from fish. The largest of the lot consisted of a 48cm bruiser that smashed a skitter pop. Interestingly a decent barra struck at the same lure during the trip but failed to hook up. II was also able to recover some tagging data from the largest bass. This fish was tagged on 28/11/04 @ 29.5cm, a pretty slow growth rate I thought, but apparently this is normal for bass.
This morning it was a mighty good view on the Bay esplanade. No red dust or dog kunu to be seen!
Till next time!
